We'll the kings of grunge that are still living (RIP Kurt, Justin Beiber mourns you) are back at the Big Day Out for what turned out to be the last festival at the Mount Smart Stadium.
Chris Cornell turned up in NZ late last year to perform acoustically and it was well received by the punters. He mentioned during that gig the prospect of Soundgarden doing a BDO show and that was enough to get me to Auckland (and the fact Noel Gallagher was playing too plus that they dropped Kanye West from the line up) .
This year's BDO was almost a low key event, lets face it, Soundgarden and the guy from Oasis were the only artists who have had the record sales and a place in rock history that the rest of the other performers can dream of.
