"One should always be prepared to be in awe when attending a Nine Inch Nails concert and last night was no exception. Trent Reznor rolled into Calgary with keyboardist Allessandro Cortini, guitarist Robin Finck, drummer Josh Freese and bassist Justin Meldal-Johnson to perform their third show of the Lights in the Sky tour having just played Edmonton the night before and launching the tour in Pemberton this past weekend. Despite experiencing a couple of small glitches (expected this early in the tour), the show was phenomenal and once again proves how much of an artistic visionary Reznor is."

The Sauce had a good time and said "A consistently strong performance once again last night. Terrific version of "The Pretender". The overall setup and conclusion of "Skin and Bones" was a joy to watch. The acoustic version of "My Hero" with the crowd joining in gives me the tingles. Grohl's solo version of "Everlong" remains stellar. Of course, "Monkey Wrench" and "Best of You" were also great. They did a slower version of "Big Me" for an encore.."
And here's a video of Dave Grohl doing what is becoming a semi famous in house joke of him playing the freaking triangle. Yes, he plays it better than Ed Grimley ever could...

R.E.M.'s Manager Bertis Downs has put this on the interwebs
"In a summer of uncommonly gorgeous settings for R.E.M. concerts (Bilbao, Lyon, Verona, Locarno, and Dresden immediately come to mind), last night's outside Udine (in the far northeastern corner of Italy), stood out in its unique beauty: the show was in the huge interior courtyard of a centuries' old manor house that now houses Friuli's exceptional contemporary art museum. The crowd and band certainly responded to the soft summer night in such a splendid setting with an amazing concert that included some little-played favorites like Turn You Inside Out, Nightswimming and Sitting Still (and End of the World popped up again, as it has done a few times now in Europe). And I'm Gonna DJ and Supernatural, placed early in the set rather than at the end, worked great and really got the crowd going. Fun, loud, exuberant night and what a place-- Fruili was new to us, and quite a revelation. "

NIN Rehersal Set List at The Forum Los Angeles
Rolling Stone reports on a rehersal gig Trent Reznor and Nine Inch Nails played last Saturday. at The Forum in Los Angeles
"The two-hour show was astonishing, covering a wide range of Nine Inch Nails’ material, from “Head Like a Hole” through new songs from The Slip and instrumental pieces from Ghosts, which Reznor had never planned to play live. About a third of the way through the concert, Reznor deployed some video screens, but not to enlarge his face for the cheap seats: sometimes the band played in front of a desert backdrop, sometimes the screens responded to the music with colored bubbles (like Guitar Hero in reverse), sometimes the musicians vanished behind a wall of static."

SINP has spotted that Rolling Stone Magazine has published the track listing for the new Metallica album Death Magnetic.
The album is due out sometime in September and was produced by Rick Rubin and not Bob Rock....
Of immeadiate note is the song 'The Unforgiven III' which sounds like Metallica might be flogging a dead horse, but who knows. Or maybe they are trying to please the fans after the dire effort that was St Anger.

"Setlist was similar to the setlist for the LA shows, but we got the added bonus of Politik, one of my fav live songs…the live version of the song is what I used to listen to before, and hummed during, most of my college exams haha..yup im a weirdo. Besides politk, the San Jose crowd was also rewarded with a full band performance of Yellow (versus the acoustic version they played in LA). Chris Martin called the LA show “Venti” (starbucks reference)..well if the LA show was Venti then the san jose show was super duper venti!"

Metallica's Reload Lyrics
ReLoad is the seventh album by American heavy metal band Metallica. It was released in 1997. It is the direct companion / counterpart to Metallica's 1996 album, Load. Over 3 million copies have been sold in the US as certified by the RIAA.
In addition to heavy grooves like "Fuel" and "Devil's Dance," ReLoad continues the experimentation seen on Load, with the use of violin and hurdy gurdy on "Low Man's Lyric" and Marianne Faithfull's haunting lyric on "The Memory Remains." It also bears a sequel of sorts in "The Unforgiven II," referencing a single from 1991's Metallica playing on the original's lyrical theme.
The cover of the album is original artwork depicting urine and blood. It is one of three photographic studies by Andres Serrano created in 1990 by mingling the artist's own urine and bovine blood between two sheets of Plexiglas. As with Load, ReLoad included a booklet containing band photos and select lyrics for each song.

Fresh after his Let it Be performance with Billy Joel in New York, Beatles legend Paul McCartney did his best to give peace a chance with a free concert on Sunday night at the Les Plaines d'Abraham in Quebec City. The concert was to celebrate the city's 400 years.
