"The Spaghetti Incident?"

Set lists and a little bit of Rock

Wednesday, 25 October 2006

So I was listening to the old ipod and the D4 s 'Party' came on. I love the spirit of the sone - I love to party with the north shore b'arches as much as anyone (yes, I know diff song..) but I thought the guitaring was crap.

So as I wandered by KFC witht he stale smells of dead chickens killed before their time I asked myself, "Who is NZ's best guitarist?"

And so I pondered.

My initial thought was Neil Finn. He's an older rocker. We know he can write melodies but can he play guitar like he is trying to tame a drunken lion? No. He's damn good but I'll put him in the songwriter catergory. Same for Dave Dobbyn. I'm loyal but I don't believe gods and rock mix. Unless you are Creed.

So what about that dude from The Datsuns, Phil Datsun who can wail like a mother fucker from hell? Yes and bless, he wants to be Jimmy Page but his front man lets him down. Don't get me wrong though, Datsuns make rock dangerous.

James Reid from the Feelers? Apart from his penchant for MC Hammer covers in between songs the man did write 'Venus' and the fact he played ACDC's 'Back in Black' (Come Back Chris Cairns, all is forgiven)one rocking New Years Eve in Napier means he gets an auditon for NZ's best guitarist.

One of Wellington's favourite sons from Shihad perhaps? John Toogood or Phil Knight each play a mean axe. Toogood may in fact be a lil crazy and therefore is dsqualified. Therefore its gotta be Phil. Despite various terrible haircuts he's in the band that practically rewrote the national anthem with 'Home Again'. And because of that riff he gets the nod. Phil Knight is NZ's best guitarist.

Oh course this musing has ony picked a few contemporary artists. If any one says I missed out Shane Carter they can piss off.

hmmm I wrote this post months ago and never published it - I think it went on Jimmy Jangles but whatever ....

End of Days for The Spaghetti Incident!

End of Days for The Spaghetti Incident!

"Ain't it fun when you just can't seem to find your tongue?"

This once inspired, edgy, rollicking, rebellious and saucy rock n roll blog, The Spaghetti Incident, gradually became unfocused (eg. Beyonce), neglected, and just like the right honourable W. Axl Rose himself, has now been totally abandoned by all members. So it’s time now to respectfully farewell The Spaghetti Incident as it disappears from the face of the blogosphere.. but... I wouldn't lose all hope if I were you.. because who knows?.. perhaps one fine day, like the phoenix from the ashes, The Spaghetti Incident may very well resurrect itself into a better, bigger, dumber, sexier, longer & uncut blog.. in fact there's a good chance it will be back n' business before you can say "Don't you cry tonight".. ur… well.. actually.. let's just say tune in again whenever Axl gets around to releasing Chinese Democracy - Special Deluxe Edition (10 Discs):

Vol. I (CHINESE DEMOCRACY - The Album of the Century!)

Vol. II (Chinese Democracy – remixed by JimmyJangles)

Vol. III (Chinese Democracy – remixed by Trent Reznor Jr.)

Vol. IV (Chinese Democracy – remixed by Dinosaur Jr. Jr.)

Vol. V (B-sides me, who’s left in GNR?)

Vol. VI - IX (Demos/ More B-sides, Rarities/ Live performance on MTV).

& Vol. X (DVD: Feature Film - 'You Wanna Step Into My World!?' directed by W. Axl Rose.)

And now.. a song for The Spaghetti Incident Blog’s funeral:

Since I Don't Have You

I don't have plans and schemes,
And I don't have hopes and dreams.
I don't have anything,
Since I don't have you.

And I don't have fond desires,
and I don't have happy hours.
I don't have anything,
Since I don't have you.

Happiness, and I guess,
I never will again.
When you walked out on me,
In walked ol' misery,
And he's been here since then.

(spoken) Yeah, we're fucked!

I don't have love to share,
And I don't have one who cares.
I don't have anything,
Since I don't have you.

You, you, you, oh, oh!
You, you, you, oh, oh!
You, you, you, oh, oh!
You, you, you, oh, oh!
You, you, you, oh yeah!
